About the Mosque

The Baitul Ma'Moor Foundation (French: Fondation Baitul Ma'Moor), formerly known as Din-e-Elahi Foundation, was founded in early 2003. The project was initiated around 1998 and presided by the Late Abdur Rahman and the following founders: Mohammed Ali Ahmed, Nurul Islam, Mohammed Abul Kashem, Aziz Ullah, and Abdul Mumit Choudhury.
About 1998, The Baitul Ma'Moor Foundation identified an urgent need for a place of worship for Muslims (a Mosque) and religious instruction after school for Muslim children under 15. The community is situated in the eastern part of the City of Montreal, the borough of Ville Marie, near Frontenac Metro. The Muslim families mainly consist of low-income or on social assistance. The organization has been renting various commercial locations for its need.
