About the Mosque

Oss Ulu Mosque was founded in 1976, the first naming of the mosque was Selmiye Mosque. The initiative to found a mosque was taken because there were no mosques in the Oss area. The old water tower in Oss was taken over by Oss Ulu Mosque (Selmiye) in 1978 for a symbolic amount. In 1986 Selmiye Mosque joined the Islamic Foundation Netherlands (ISN) and has since been called the Oss Ulu Mosque. The Dutch people from the area also call this the Watertoren Mosque. Several expansions have taken place over the years to provide a better service.
