In 2013, De Laakapel was taken over by the El Mouahidin Foundation and has been set up as a Mosque from the month of Ramadan in August 2013. The old location on the Draaistraat was very small for the community, and there was no room for the women. In contrast to the old small mosque, the building at Deimanstraat 7 offers enough space for both men and women. Fortunately, women no longer have to walk so far to another mosque in a completely different neighbourhood. The current building is equipped with modern comfort, but the authentic character has been preserved.
