We’re beginning a new 6-part Thursday night series with Shaykh Khalis Rashaad: Companionship shapes character, but only when governed by restraint, patience, and proper boundaries. Drawing primarily from the teachings of Imam al-Sha’arani, this series explores the Islamic ethics (adab) of being with others, including teachers, peers, and communities, without illusion, idealization, or burnout. Select insights from The Art of Gathering will be used as a contemporary lens to examine presence, purpose, and responsibility in communal life, while remaining firmly rooted in the classical tradition.

Ibrahim Center dba Ibrahim Islamic Center is an IRS 501 (c)(3) non profit organization. Your donations are tax deductible and zakat eligible.
We wanted an intentional community, rather than a transactional space.
In the spring of 2012, a group of Houston Muslims (mostly African American converts) decided to get intentional about building community.
We wanted a community that was welcoming, safe and authentic. We wanted to cultivate a Prophetic community rooted in grace, love and service to humanity. We seek to be mindful of God and mindful of ourselves. We wanted to live a life of meaning and purpose while simultaneously reflecting who we are as American Muslims.
