Azerbaijani-American Council (AAC) was established in October 2006 during the first Azerbaijani-American Academic Forum held at the University of California Los Angeles. It has been the first non-profit non-partisan academic & professional grassroots and civic awareness organization uniting Azerbaijani-Americans and friends of Azerbaijan.

AAC pioneered the practice of academic conferences and inter-communal dialog programs engaging Azerbaijani-American community. It has also spearheaded the establishment of the Pax Turcica Institute, the largest Turkic-American grassroots advocacy and research platform.
