 Mosque Association El Fath (literal translation: the opening / the key), have been part of Amersfoort society since 1980. The founders, a group of Amersfoorters of Moroccan descent, no longer saw Amersfoort as a temporary place of residence, but as a new home base. The need for a mosque grew within the community. After all, people could profess their faith there, something that is indispensable in the life of a Muslim. In 1981, a building on Soesterweg was purchased and expanded over time with adjacent buildings. The number of members increased rapidly. After all, not only Muslims of Moroccan descent, but also Dutch, Somali, Kurdish and Iraqi people, for example, visited the mosque.
