Between 1990 and 2000, a very large population of Oromos have made the United States their new home. Of those recent immigrants, the majority of them are concentrated around the Twin Cities area. As the community grew, so did its needs. By 2004, by the will of Allah and the generous help of the community, Tawfiq Islamic Center of Minnesota in Saint Paul Minneapolis was collectively purchased. The establishment of this new community center served to preserve the American Muslim identity, the sociocultural and linguistic needs of the community.
